I want to be forever young

обои (3)How to stay young? this question is something we have in common no matter what country or culture we came from. Rich and poor, black and white, men and women – we all want to know where the fountain of youth is.

Can you afford such luxuries as good sleep, healthy food and a steady relationship? It’s not as easy as a beauty shot or a gym membership but it works. Invest your time today and you will feel better tomorrow. Especially if you think of your food as a source of energy.

I decided to stop worrying about all the things I can’t change in life. Trying to embrace it is not easy. I realized I will not be rich or famous but I can survive I guess. There are things that I can’t do, there are people I can’t change, there are places I won’t see. So what? I can still find the reason to be happy and grateful.

I feel like being outside is a benefit for all of us. It helps living in real time and gives a perspective. It opens a new world providing some food for thought.

Spending time with your loved ones makes the world go round. And yes it helps you stay happy and young. It’s all in your hands, just live it, make it happen no matter what!

How to cope

Yesterday at one of my art classes somebody asked me how to cope with depression. I looked at them going How did you know? Back in the days of college, oh my… I was so excited they asked me, so happy to help and so glad I am not there any more.

Just in case you were wondering how to cope with depression

  1. Eat. Seriously eat something real, not just doughnuts and ice-cream.
  2. Go outside, get some vitamin D while the sun is still shining. No gadgets, please.
  3. Ask for help. Don’t just suffer in silence. It can be a friend or a stranger, up to you.
  4. Engage yourself in art of drawing, cooking, singing, dancing or knitting.
  5. Find a Meetup group for something you always wanted to do but never got a chance to actually try.
  6. Write a letter or card to somebody who deserves it, an old friend or relative.
  7. Go to public library or city park to people/dog watch. It can be real fun!

Happiness is inside us but we do need contact with others to be our better selves.

I wish you the best of luck in your daily battles!

Saying no to your old job is tough when you are not sure the new one will be better. But how much longer can you put up with that crap?

In my case saying no was hard because it was the first job with benefits. But you know what when your supervisor is trying to invade your privacy in the bathroom, this should be it. I was so astonished that it happened to me I did not know what to do. It was Friday and I didn’t feel all that hot as my nose was bleeding and I had period. I took a couple of hours to think things over and shoot her an email with two weeks’ notice. Yes, it was her and she was trying to punish me for hiding in the bathroom instead of answering the phone. Well, I worked all kind of crappy jobs but never experienced such an attitude. In my pizza place I used to deal with Arabic guys and white Americans covered in tattoos smoking weed at work but they were never rude to me. Is it because they were all men? While in hospital the team  was exclusively female. I am not a sexist but this is the conclusion I came to. I do prefer to work with guys, they will punch you in the face but never stab you in the back really. I want to thank all the men I ever worked with, you guys rock.
